Firstly, start applying immediately. The sooner the better, so that you can gain experience early on. This may mean doing a few lower-paid model shoots to build up your work portfolio.

You also need to keep fit and healthy. As we humans get older, our skin gets wrinkles and often dark sun spots. Use SPF creams regularly to protect your skin. Use a good skincare routine to slow down these common signs of ageing.

You should also get enough exercise and eat a healthy diet. The older we get, the harder it is to lose weight and stay in shape. You need to work harder to make sure you have the right body and physique for the modeling industry.

The most important thing you can do is not give up. The modeling industry is tough even at the best of times, so you have to be determined to succeed regardless of your age. Be smart, do your research and apply to lots of different jobs (remember you can apply to as many jobs as you want, as often as you want). With a little patience and a good portfolio, you’ll get there!

Naomi made a name for herself in the 90s. Together with her colleagues Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer and Kate Moss, she was known as one of the “Big Six”.

Although she is already over 50, Naomi can still be seen on the high fashion scene. Even motherhood hasn’t slowed her down – she returned to work just a few days after the birth of her daughter.

This year, she proved that nothing has changed in her 35 years at the top when she closed the Michael Kors Fall 2021 fashion show.

Christy Turlington

Christy Turlington also became famous in the 90s and has not let getting older stop her. Today she is 52 years old and is more involved in humanitarian causes, but you still see her posing for commercials and editorials from time to time.

Elle Macpherson

Australian model Elle was known as “the Body” in her heyday, and for good reason. As well as juggling several businesses, Elle is often seen on TV and still occasionally appears in commercials.
