Prêt-à-porter means “ready to wear” in English. It refers to clothing that is produced in standard sizes and is intended to be worn without significant adjustments. Prêt-à-porter clothing is often sold in department stores and other retail outlets, as opposed to haute couture, which is custom-made to the wearer’s measurements. Prêt-à-porter is sometimes referred to as “off the rack” or “ready to wear”.
